Happy New Year! I hope you feel rested after the holiday break and rearing to go. I spent the break visiting with friends and family, reading Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills’ new novel “Order to Kill”, and finalizing a 2017 action plan for my business, philanthropic, and personal goals.
If you are like many of my family philanthropy clients, you too have started (or are gearing up to start) planning for 2017—strategizing what you want your philanthropy to look like, and the impact you and your family want to make.
At Hammer & Associates, I meet with a lot of family foundation and family office leaders who ask me questions about how to make an impact in philanthropy. They want to achieve results for their community or funding area—and yet they have concerns about keeping the family together over time. What if family members have different interests, personal passions, or live in different places? How can the family agree on something that will sustain everyone’s interest AND actually do something that’s needed and important, and even measurable?
That’s why I created a toolkit for you: Balancing Passion and Strategy: A Family Office Guide to Meaningful Giving, the second in my series of EngagedPhilanthropy™ guides. This toolkit offers you and your family thought-provoking content and questions—helping you plan and practice philanthropy that is both meaningful and measurable. While I wrote this with family offices in mind, any philanthropic family or foundation will find it useful.
I hope you enjoy this toolkit, and that it sparks a dialogue that connects your family in a new and deeper way. Remember: you don’t need to go it alone. If you get stuck or need support, reach me anytime at Suzanne@SuzanneHammer.com.
Cheers to your best and balanced 2017.
Suzanne
